Xylene

Xylene

Xylene is a clear, colorless, sweet-smelling chemical compound that is a major component of gasoline. It belongs to the family of aromatic hydrocarbons and exists in three different isomeric forms: ortho-xylene, meta-xylene, and para-xylene, each differing in the positions of the two methyl groups on the benzene ring. Xylene is commonly used as a solvent in the printing, rubber, and leather industries. It is also used in the production of polyester fibers and resins, particularly in the manufacture of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastics and films. Due to its solvent properties, xylene can dissolve various compounds, making it valuable in various applications.
